Hey there! I hope you had an awesome week.

Last week on ANCHORED, we talked about rest. About slowing down. And about remembering that constantly pushing yourself is not always the best thing to do as a believer.

If you missed last week’s message, you can check your email or click here to read it.

There are moments in life when everything feels paused.

Not because nothing is happening,
but because you don’t know what to do next.

You’ve prayed.
You’ve thought it through.
You’ve asked for advice.

And still, the answer doesn’t feel clear.

You want to make the right decision.
You want to honour God.
You don’t want to move ahead only to realise you misunderstood His direction.

So you wait.

You go back and forth in your mind.
You replay every option.
You wonder what will happen if you choose wrong.

And slowly, that uncertainty turns into hesitation.

Today, we’re talking about something many of us struggle with:

Trusting God with our next decision.

Why making decisions feel difficult

Most decisions aren’t tough to make because we lack options.

They’re tough because we’re afraid of the consequences. We think to ourselves:

“What if I choose wrong?”
“What if I miss God’s will?”
“What if this changes everything?”

So instead of moving forward, we look for certainty.

We want a clear sign.
A perfect confirmation.
A feeling that removes all doubt.

But often, that certainty never comes.

And the longer we wait, the more difficult the decision feels.

The pressure to get it right

Many of us grew up thinking one wrong decision could ruin God’s plan for our lives.

We read about Saul in the Bible losing his kingdom after one act of disobedience.
We’ve heard people say, “I missed God’s timing.”
We’ve been told to be careful not to make the wrong move.
We’ve watched others regret choices they made and wondered if they stepped outside God’s will.

So we double-check every move.
We ask the same questions again and again.
We wait longer than we need to because we’re afraid of getting it wrong.

Decisions then start to feel like tests we’re afraid to fail.

We begin to think God is waiting for us to choose the exact right option.
And if we choose wrong, we’ve somehow stepped outside His will.

But the Bible shows us something different.

God guides His people with wisdom and patience.
His plans are not undone by a single decision.

You are not one decision away from ruining what God has planned for you.

What the Bible actually shows us

Throughout Scripture, God guides people who rarely had perfect clarity.

Abraham left his home without knowing where he was going.
Genesis 12:1

David was anointed king long before he understood how it would unfold.
1 Samuel 16

Paul made plans, changed direction, and learned God’s leading along the way.
Acts 16:6–10

They didn’t always receive detailed instructions from the start.

They received clearer direction as they began the journey.

God often reveals the path while you’re walking it, not before.

Wisdom matters more than certainty

Proverbs 3:5–6 says:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Notice what the verse does not say.

It doesn’t promise perfect clarity.
It doesn’t promise zero uncertainty.

It promises guidance.

Trusting God doesn’t always remove questions.
It teaches you to move forward even when you still have questions.

Sometimes hesitation looks spiritual

Waiting can feel like the wise thing to do.

And sometimes it is.

But in many cases, hesitation is just fear that we mask using spiritual words.

We say we’re “waiting on God,”
when deep down, we’re afraid of making a mistake.

But seeking God’s guidance is not always about how long you wait.

It’s about taking a faithful step and trusting God the rest of the way.

You don’t have to figure it all out first

This is important to understand.

You don’t need to know all the answers before making your next decision.
Just trust God enough to take the next step, knowing He will be with you as you go.

James 1:5 says:

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault.”

God invites you to ask for wisdom, not wait for perfect certainty.

You don’t have to figure everything out on your own.

What trusting God with your next decision means

Trusting God with your next decision doesn’t mean waiting until all your fear is gone.

Instead, it means:

Praying honestly.
Asking for wise counsel.
Making the best choice you can with what you know.
And moving forward without needing every answer first.

Faith is not knowing how everything will turn out.

Faith is trusting that God will be with you no matter what happens next.

It doesn’t have to be perfect

Here’s something we often forget:

God’s faithfulness is bigger than your decisions.

People in the Bible didn’t always get everything right, yet God kept working through their lives.

His plans have never depended on human perfection.

You are not responsible for controlling the future.

You are responsible for taking the next faithful step today.

Here’s something to think about

When we face a big decision, our first instinct is usually to ask:

“Which option will turn out better?”
“Which choice will give me the best result?”

But following God has never been about predicting outcomes.

A better question might be:

“Which step can I take in faith right now?”

Because sometimes the decision itself matters less than learning to trust God as you move forward.

Hear this

You don’t need all the answers before you move forward.

You don’t have to feel completely sure before taking a step.

God is not asking you to have everything figured out.

He asks you to trust Him and take the next step.

You are not one decision away from missing His will.

One last thing

If you’re facing a tough decision right now, remember this:

God leads willing hearts more than perfect planners.

Take the step you can see.
Trust Him with what you cannot.

And as you move forward this week, remember this:

You don’t have to control the outcome.
You just have to trust the One who already knows it.
