Hey there! I hope you are having a blessed week.

Last time on ANCHORED, we talked about letting go of past mistakes and why you do not have to keep carrying a burden God has already forgiven.

Today, we are talking about something that affects a lot of us Christians.

Praying and feeling like nothing is happening.

You have been faithful. You have been consistent. You show up, you pray, you trust God.

But that situation has not changed. That answer you are longing for has not come. And if you are honest, you are starting to wonder if God is even listening.

Have you ever felt that way? I think most of us have at some point.

Why silence feels so personal

When someone you love does not respond to you, it hurts.

So when you pour your heart out to God and nothing seems to change, it is easy to start drawing conclusions.

Maybe I am doing something wrong.
Maybe He is punishing me for something.
Maybe my faith is not strong enough.
Maybe He just does not care about my prayers.

But here is what I have learned. Silence is not the same as absence.

What the Bible shows us about waiting on God

Hannah is one of my favourite examples in Scripture.

She wanted a child more than anything. Year after year, nothing happened. She was in so much pain that when she prayed at the temple, the priest thought she was drunk because her lips were moving but no sound was coming out.

That is how desperate her prayer was.

And God heard her.

Not immediately. But He heard her.

1 Samuel 1:19-20 tells us:

"The Lord remembered her. So in the course of time Hannah became pregnant and gave birth to a son."

In the course of time.

Not right away. Not on her schedule. But God had not forgotten her, not even for a single moment.

Unanswered prayer does not mean unheard prayer

This is where many of us get confused.

We measure God's response by what we can see.

If things change, He heard us.
If things stay the same, He did not.

But that is not how God works.

Sometimes He is working on something bigger than the specific thing you are asking for. Sometimes He is preparing you to receive what you are praying for. Sometimes the delay is actually protecting you from something you cannot see yet.

James 1:4 puts it this way:

"Let patience have its perfect work, so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

God is not just interested in answering your prayer. He is interested in who you become while you are waiting.

What to do when it feels like God is not answering

Keep praying. I know that sounds simple, but prayer is the greatest tool we have.

Jesus spoke directly about this in Luke 18. He told a story about a woman who kept going back to a judge with her request, over and over again, until he finally helped her.

And then Jesus said:

"Will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night?" Luke 18:7

God is not irritated by your repeated prayers. He is not tired of hearing the same request.

Keep bringing it to Him.

Also, check what you are praying alongside the request. Sometimes when I feel like God is not answering, I notice that I have stopped paying attention to everything else He is doing around me. Gratitude has a way of shifting your perspective when waiting becomes difficult.

A question worth sitting with

Instead of asking, "Why is God not answering me?"

Try asking, "What is God doing in me while I wait for this?"

Because the waiting period is never wasted in God's hands.

One last thing

If you are in a season where your prayers feel like they are hitting the ceiling, I want you to hear this.

God has not forgotten you. He has not moved on. He is not ignoring you.

Psalm 34:15 says:

"The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry."

His eyes are on you right now. Even in the silence. Even in the waiting.

Keep praying. Keep trusting. The silence is not the end of the story.
